Activision has officially announced the release date for the exciting crossover between Call of Duty and the global phenomenon, Squid Game.  Mark your calendars for January 3rd!

This collaboration, teased earlier this month, arrives just a week after the launch of Squid Game's second season, currently streaming on Netflix.  While not as extensive as some Fortnite crossovers, the Squid Game partnership marks another exciting addition to Call of Duty's growing list of collaborative ventures.

Recent Call of Duty collaborations have spanned diverse franchises, including horror icons like Scream and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, musical collaborations with artists like Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, and even partnerships with football stars like Lionel Messi.  With this latest venture, it's clear Activision is keen to keep the surprises coming.

A new trailer reveals the official launch date and offers a glimpse into the content arriving with the collaboration.  Players can expect Squid Game-themed operator skins, weapon blueprints, and, most excitingly, new limited-time modes.

While the specific modes remain unconfirmed, the trailer hints at the inclusion of the iconic 'Red Light, Green Light' game from the series. This thrilling mode challenges players to race towards a finish line, freezing in place when 'Red Light' is called, lest they face elimination.

The trailer also showcases a variety of Squid Game-inspired skins, from the signature red jumpsuits to the enigmatic Front Man attire.  Players will likely have the opportunity to acquire these cosmetic items through bundles available in the Call of Duty store starting January 3rd.

Following the acclaimed first season in 2021, Squid Game returned with its highly-anticipated second season on December 26th.  The seven new episodes pick up three years after the original events, with protagonist Seong Gi-hun returning to the deadly games alongside a fresh batch of participants.  A third and final season is planned for 2025.
