Call of Duty has officially announced that spamming false reports against other players in Black Ops 6 and Warzone can lead to account penalties. While cheating remains an ongoing issue, the developers are actively addressing the problem of malicious reporting.
The Ricochet anti-cheat system, while effective in mitigating some cheating, hasn't eliminated all hacks. This has led some players to resort to spamming the report function, mistakenly believing it will result in swifter action. However, Call of Duty's system only considers the initial report, with subsequent reports having no additional impact.
The recent surge in false reports prompted the developers to clarify their stance. They stressed that repeated reporting doesn't escalate penalties against suspected cheaters, and instead, puts the reporting player at risk of penalties themselves. Over 8,000 accounts have already been banned for this practice, highlighting the extent of the issue.
Call of Duty has also addressed player concerns regarding the effectiveness of Ricochet. While acknowledging the persistence of some cheats, they emphasized the ongoing updates and improvements to the system. They urged players to trust the process and avoid taking matters into their own hands through false reporting.
