Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is taking aggressive action against cheaters by implementing substantial improvements to its Ricochet Anti-Cheat system. Players have voiced concerns about the prevalence of cheating, especially in ranked multiplayer, since the game's launch in late October. Now, the developers are responding with enhanced measures to create a fairer playing field.
Black Ops 6 continues to evolve with its seasonal content model, currently in the midst of Season 1. This season has brought new weapons, multiplayer maps, and the latest Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts. While new content remains a key focus, the developers are prioritizing the fight against cheating.
The Ricochet Anti-Cheat team has announced key changes to address the issues. "After several updates, our systems are performing better across all modes," the team stated. "However, the initial integration of Ricochet for Season 1, particularly in Ranked Play, did not meet our expectations." The improvements focus on faster response times, with account bans now occurring hourly. Leaderboard accuracy is also being improved through quicker cleanup of illegitimate scores.
The developers are bolstering their cheat detection capabilities. A significantly expanded Replay Investigation render farm will generate more gameplay clips for thorough analysis, allowing the team to identify and ban cheaters more efficiently. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of ranked play, which was significantly impacted by cheaters upon its release.
Artificial intelligence is playing a larger role in the future of Ricochet. The team is training AI models to detect cheating patterns and behaviors, aiming for faster and more accurate identification of cheaters.
The primary goal is to accelerate the enforcement of punishments, thereby reducing the number of cheaters players encounter. This ongoing effort to combat cheating coincides with the current Season 1 cycle of Black Ops 6, with Season 2 set to begin on January 28, 2025.
